I wanted to pull the curtain back and show you some behind the scenes action on how I achieve a white background finish for studio portraits. There’s nothing cleaner than a beautiful portrait on a white background. When the accompanying elements like chairs, boxes and other props are in harmony with the subject, it all comes together in a beautiful and finished product. One of the best ways you can improve your candid photography is to learn the concepts of Finding The Light. Most beginners don’t know this, but the best time of day to shoot pictures is early in the morning or late in the afternoon. The sun is softer and illuminates your subject straight on, which helps avoid dark under-eye circles. Shooting in the middle of the day casts deep shadows under the eyes and nose and the available light is much harsher.
